Private lessons are one teacher to one student, paced entirely around that student, from age 4 for violin and age 6 for cello. No registration fee for a limited time.
Private lessons are the fastest way to progress and the standard route for ABRSM grades. One teacher, one student, and nothing paced to a group.
Paced around one student, not a room.
Nothing is paced to a group: a student finding one thing difficult gets the time they need on it, and a student moving quickly is not held back.
Parents are encouraged to sit in on children's lessons. It helps at home during the week, because you have seen what the teacher actually asked for.
What private lessons cost
Choose 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Monthly figures are for four weekly lessons. No registration fee for a limited time, on either instrument.
Violin, instructor fee
From age 4
- from S$65 for 45 minutes, or from S$260 monthly
- from S$75 for 1 hour, or from S$300 monthly
Violin, Head Teacher Xin Jie
From age 4
- from S$75 for 45 minutes, or from S$300 monthly
- from S$90 for 1 hour, or from S$360 monthly
Cello, instructor fee
From age 6
- from S$70 for 45 minutes, or from S$280 monthly
- from S$80 for 1 hour, or from S$320 monthly
Beginner to advanced, both instruments.
- Complete beginner through to advanced, on violin and cello, for kids and adults
- Returning after years away is normal here
- Basic theory covered inside lessons, both teachers hold ABRSM Grade 8 Theory
- Piano accompaniment for the lower grades covered by Xin Jie, so you are not paying a second teacher for it
Private lessons are scheduled with your teacher rather than fixed to a timetable, so weekday afternoons, evenings and weekends are all possible. After-school and weekend slots go first. Adults usually find weekday daytime easiest.
